POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
Many children have a hard time getting up and moving in the morning. But for kids with POT Syndrome, or POTS, the fatigue is debilitating. It keeps these children from normal activities like sports or social events. Many can’t even go to school. POTS can be diagnosed by a neurologist by monitoring blood pressure and heart rate when the child changes from lying down to a sitting position. Tests may include sweat tests and tilt table tests. Medicine can be prescribed and there are other things that can be tried at home. For more information on POTS, please visit this Mayo Clinic site:http://podcasts.mayoclinic.org/2008/04/23/postural-orthostatic-tachycardia-syndrome-pots/ If you would like to check out a POTS forum, please visit this site (Disautonomia Information Network) http://dinet.org/.
