This statewide “Caring Network” has highly trained respite care providers who have the required skills to provide in-home respite care for individuals with a variety of special needs, including challenging behaviors and medical and personal care needs.

Consider reregistering a s a Provider if you are ~ * over 18 * able to pass caregiver and criminal background * are a current in-home respite care provider * interested in finding flexible work hours around your busy family or school schedule * looking for experience working with children, youth and adults with cognitive, physical, medial, mental health or behavioral diagnosis or disability. Lifespan Caring Network Training utilizes an online course, that is designed for people providing care to individuals of varying disabilities and ages. The course covers: Disability Basics, Lifts & Transfers, Personal Care/ Daily Living Skills, Medication Administration, Communication Techniques, Abuse and Neglect, Caring for Challenging Behaviors, Free Time Activities, and Making Connections (meeting/ training with the family). Respite care provides short term relief or “time-off” from caregiving responsibilities for parents/families who have a child or other family member with a disability or special health care need. Respite can be: An hour a day 8 hours a day A weekend A week What ever the family member needs for a "break". Respite care also increases family stability, decreases stress and helps prevent needless out-of-home placement. Tyler’s Home for Kids offers the following respite services: • Licensed Respite Care, providing a much needed break from care-giver’s daily demands and responsibilities. • Care to kids with disabilities ranging in ages from infant to 17 years. Stays may be for short drop-in care, overnight, or longer, dependent on circumstances. • Based upon location and availability, specialized transportation may be provided to and from Tyler’s Home. • Trained, professional staff also available for in-home respite for all ages. Benefits of Respite Care include: • Increased family stability and strengthened ability of families to care for their child at home. • Allow for more family interactions and social activities. • Decreased stress, depression, chronic care-giver illness, and possible abuse and neglect. • Enhanced coping skills.
