This four session cohort is designed to support educators serving students with disability-related needs in the areas of sensory and regulation. The way our body takes in, interprets and reacts to the world can vary for a variety of reasons. In this training participants will be introduced to this process and possible places students might be experiencing differences that cause unexpected reactions. Staying curious and learning more about a student's perspective and how their body is adapting can support educators and families to be able to support that student be the best them they can be. Through looking at our sensory processing systems and our regulatory systems we can build supports to help students navigate the world they are experiencing.

An exceptional scientist, author, and speaker, will be coming to SCIG! Dr. Temple Grandin is a renowned animal behavior expert, advocate for autism awareness, and author. Dr. Grandin herself is on the autism spectrum and has used her unique perspective to revolutionize the livestock industry and raise awareness about autism. She’s written several books, including “Thinking in Pictures” and “Animals in Translation,” and her life story has been depicted in a biographical film titled “Temple Grandin.”

This CIT Advanced Course is one day, 8-hour courses that expand on a topic of suicide prevention that is covered in the basic 40-hour CIT. Officers attending this course must have previously been certified in CIT.

Circles of Life is Wisconsin’s annual conference for families who have children with disabilities and the professionals who support them.

5/17-18 Play is the Way Community Conference Par 4 Resort, 201 Foxfire Drive, Waupaca.
This conference is for both families and childcare providers.
- Friday night events will include a free “Guiding Conversations” event for families and caregivers, with dinner included. Children are welcome to attend, but no child care will be provided.
- Saturday events for parents, caregivers, and child care providers will include four learning sessions on “Play” led by Keynote Speaker Lisa Murphy, M.Ed. Early Childhood Specialist. Cost for Saturday is $25. Light breakfast/lunch included.

An exceptional scientist, author, and speaker, will be coming to SCIG! Dr. Temple Grandin is a renowned animal behavior expert, advocate for autism awareness, and author. Dr. Grandin herself is on the autism spectrum and has used her unique perspective to revolutionize the livestock industry and raise awareness about autism. She’s written several books, including “Thinking in Pictures” and “Animals in Translation,” and her life story has been depicted in a biographical film titled “Temple Grandin.”
This event is free and open to anyone interested, including parents and volunteers, BUT space is limited so please register and reserve a ticket!

CIT Advanced: Suicide Prevention (coordinated by NAMI Dane County)
This CIT Advanced Course is one day, 8-hour courses that expand on a topic of suicide prevention that is covered in the basic 40-hour CIT. Officers attending this course must have previously been certified in CIT.

CIT OFFICER OF THE YEAR & CIP CORRECTIONS OFFICER OF THE YEAR
Recognition awards are given to an officer who stands out in their efforts, contributions, and dedication to improve the quality of life of people affected by mental illnesses and to promote recovery. The CIT Officer of the Year Award and CIP Corrections Officer of the Year Award are each presented to an officer for outstanding service to the community that embodies fair and kind treatment for people with mental illness and works proactively to de-escalate situations. Awards will be presented at the CIT Symposium on June 12th during the CIT Summit.

Become a part of the youth that leads us! This week-long forum is for high school students with disabilities who want to learn more about leadership, self-advocacy skills, and career awareness. Do you want to:

Dr. Toneka M. Green is an impactful educator of nearly 20 years. She is the owner and a national consultant at 4Green Educational Consulting, where she works with schools, districts, charter school networks, and state agencies to meet their specific leadership and educator development goals. Dr. Green has filled numerous roles from classroom teacher to senior-level leadership and is a member of various education and business boards and organizations. Her work focuses on leadership and educator development, empowerment speaking, and creating diverse, equitable, and inclusive schools and workplaces.
